Rose portrait
4F 14cm high Black and grey washes mixed on the fly
I 'blood lined' this piece (on practise skin) with a super light grey. Problem was it pulled the stencil blue into the line and I ended up with an undesirable outline, but a stencil I could follow without wiping off.
I managed to get most of the outline covered in shade, with the most obvious lines left around the mouth.
I started really small (4F) to see if I could get things like eye details and strands of hair, which I did ok with. Light on the photo makes the top half look lighter, though it's not in reality (yeah I know...photos ever lie )
I'll go bigger next time with needle config, but I was wondering if others work with multiple needle sets (ie more than two) when completing a piece?
I would be tempted to keep the 4F set up and also work say with a 7 or 9 mag to cover areas quicker and (hopefully) get smoother blends.

I too can have 4 machines on the go, I suppose this is when carts come into use.
What machines you using now Whippet, still the Sharpz or are you still giving rotaries a go ?

I shaded this one with my Sharpz hybrid...old faithful. For lining right now i'm mainly using the machine I put together with Sharpz coils, I seem to prefer this over the microdial, which I hope I grow into at some stage.
Definitely thinking about a rotary liner after tinkering with a couple of cheapies on the weekend...just seemed all together smoother. I'm looking fairly seriously at the RW ID liner
