Tat space pix
I remember there was a request on the old forum to share pix of tattoo spaces.
The last couple of days I've been re-configuring what was a print / design studio to accommodate my tattooing studio.
Pictures below show the tattooist's work area, though inks and machines just laid out for the photo, not a real set up.
Also secured a sharps contract today with Direct365 - 2 collections per year with either a 4 or 7 litre bin - £40 +VAT annually.

Re: Tat space pix
As I said before...looks great. I bet the aircon makes a difference.
What are you hanging you rmachines on...meat hooks?
I'm thinking of making a bracket to fit on the inside of the wall cupboard door, with 1" stems angled up slightly. When it closes th emachines will sit slightly under the shelf, making use of dead space.
Also do you have a flat bed/couch?
Currently I have a chair similar to yours which is fine for most pieces (I guess).

The air con is a god send, makes a massive difference, before I had sweat dripping off the end of my nose lol! The machines are hung on an ikea kitchen rail and hooks which are all powder coated so easy to keep clean, I do have a massage couch but due to the small size of my work area I can't leave it erected, I struggle with the chair and find a couch much easier and currently looking for a new chair/couch.

Did you use the sweat drips to thin your black down?

They all look great.....I would need to find out all the various requirements associated with setting up a home studio eventually. Whippet, is yours located in your actual home, or is it a converted garage/outbuilding?

This is the area in my house that I'm thinking of whenever the time comes. At present, it's part of the kitchen (the kitchen is behind me where I stood to take the snap). To the right of the pic is a sofa & chair- den like for watching telly. At the moment, it's all more or less open planned, so I'm aware that I will need to close it all off some way as it is so close to the kitchen without losing light in the kitchen!!

May not be the perfect solution but have you thought about moveable screens?
Some are translucent so you'll get light through when they're up, and they can be moved / folded back to cover your work area when not in use, and give you and the client privacy when you're working.

First port of call should be your EH Officer at the local council to find out if what you are planning is feasible and meets the local EH requirements as it is within the confines of your domestic living space. Additional considerations to that are you Public Liabilities & Treatment Risk Insurances as they may not cover you working inside the domestic space? Also, Clinical Waste collections and accessibility. There are many things to consider but as I say EHO would be my first conversation. Would be terrible to spend the money on the conversion only for it to fail initial inspection.

Re: Tat space pix
Thanks for the feedback, yes there is a lot to find out. I do know that originally (long before we moved in) that whole area in the photo didn't exist, it was part of the drive. And where I stood to take the pic was basically garage doors (there's no longer a garage). We have no access to the back garden, only through our kitchen, so a shed/building wouldn't be an option, as clients would be tramping through the house, kitchen to be exact. I would close this area off totally, even with glazed doors??, the client would enter through the door pictured, but like you said gas I would need to find out through the proper channels. I've a spare bedroom, but that was always a no no in my book....
