elephant finished up

finished this one today the detail is all free hand , really enjoyed it

hey how do you get that dotted stipple shading effect? do you just poke a bunch of times?

cheers reset , its just basic dot work shading , the darker the area the more dots , its nice and soft and works well on stuff like this , but yes that was a tight 5 and dynamic

thanks head , its a big old tattoo to be fair as you can see she has cracking thighs lol but she sits amazing every time and this will be a full leg piece eventually i cant wait to get cracking on the rest of it

nice piece!

Have you used two differnt liner needles? bolder outline and more delicate lining inside.

yes i did whippet the first sitting was the basic out line with a 9rl and the second sitting the detail was tight 5 rl

depend on the tattoo i have whipped with liners to get that very grainy effect but on this tattoo its just plain dot work

This might sound dumb but when you're whipping the dots do you slow your machine down much or what's the trick? and can you get the same effect with a mag?

Looks great Lou. Line work is solid and consistent as always. Loved this one from when I first saw it lined and look tremendous now!

well if im whipshading i like a lot of hang and i do slow my machine down but i have a set machine for whip shading , i dont use it for anything else , and its a hand built soft shader sadly i havent found a machine like it so i cant recommend one to you but the closest thing i would say is a df clone and i would run it at about 5-6 volts
