£1000 for equipment
i'll have £1000 made available to me after christmas. i'll be making a serious go off tattooing after a long spell of settling for a 39 hour week job
i have a rotary works direct drive but it gets very rattley when pushed to 7 or 8 volts which puts me off even trying to line with it, plus i hate clip cords as they always mess around with power on me so i want a rca connector
rotary works never seem to have much stock in, any other machines people recommend with lining being a priority (not than im spending £1000 on a machine) possibly 2 machines
also quality needles will be of high importance
forum has got quiet but i notice the gypsy is back

Re: £1000 for equipment
yes they are in my opinion they are dump , there are plenty of good coil builders out there and much cheaper than sharps , and if your rw is rattling is needs a service dale will do it for free just email him and send the machine in to him he will service and send back
Re: £1000 for equipment
Thanks lou, I recon I will do that very soon. Any UK based builders you'd recommend? Just for lining, as I like using the rotary

aiden macspratt is good he does custom builds as well he is a really decent bloke ill find a link for you donnie irish i think another is called he makes nice coils
Re: £1000 for equipment
I love my rotary works for lining. I've got the slimline one, never go much over 6 volts for it. I would recommend Bov Williams coils, I've got a couple of his, and they got rid of all my other coils.

Re: £1000 for equipment
my coils and the rotary im still testing are both very good liners, but it takes time that iI dont have at the monent to put them together. recently got some faulhaber motors for the rotary so seeing how long they last, so far so good, put lots of hours on one of these motors, just gotta fine tune the cam,,,could possibly do you one for research purpose, but it'd cost you..Lol..:-)

Understandable
Thanks for the offer. Is the research for the life of the motor or performance?

Re: £1000 for equipment
I had a pair of DSM (Dan Self Made) liners hand built last year, they ran crap, got rid of them both this year, I have replaced them with Micky Sharpz micro dials which I purchased second hand and sent them off to a guy called Paul Porter who knows Sharpz machines who hand cut springs and re shimmed the coils plus other tweaks and they run great now, Paul did say that the geometry on Sharpz frames is excellent and inside every standard machine is a great machine once tweaked, bang for buck Sharpz are my favourites.
Glynn Flew are also good machines for the money but the ones I have had have always needed tuning.
Kev Shercliffes arent bad either.

Re: £1000 for equipment
Had to repair my clip cord as there was a break in the wire. I tested it with the rotary I have, had it up to 10 volts and no rattle. So it seems it only rattles unloaded.
Anyone got a clue what that could be?
