I'm sure you were bored out your mind lol. You can get a lot of practice during tribal, get that whip shading down, stretch the skin, leave it lose and just see the different shades you get from doing that. Also practice on angle of entry like the shovel method 45 degree angle pushing forward really packing in the black, then don't stretch the skin so tight and sweep backwards for laying in the light tones. If I'm doing tribal I'm practicing all type of shit, lol

I'll have to try and find a way to get the ink in quicker
I'm going to use a 5rl to sharpen the points when finished

Re: Tribal time
I'm afraid of chewing the skin up, as I'm using a direct drive rotary at about 7 volts but might try turning it up to 8 or 9 to see what happens

Re: Tribal time
its looks tidy , but tribal is tedious work isnt it lol i colour pack with a triple con at about 8.1 you need to turn it up a bit for colour
Re: Tribal time
as far as time i remember doing my first ever tribal and it took about 8 hours and this poor lad sat like a rock , now i can get through a piece of tribal like that in about 4-5 depending on size ,, but it takes as long as it takes , you get more colour packed by working slowly its time consuming. and you wont always get through it all at once sometimes you have to leave it for the day and come back
Re: Tribal time
Thanks lou, I'll definitely try turning up the voltage

Re: Tribal time
dont focus on doing anything faster... just do it so its comfortable for you and its all nice and tidy... as soon as you get used to your equipment and with your technique than everything will move faster on its own... take your time to teach your muscles the best habbits
Might be a late advice and by now you prolly doing tribals like that in 3-4 hours .. but maybe it stil helps !!

Unfortunately not kneehigh. Not been doing alot
I think I have finally figured out how to get solid colour faster but at a very very small bit at a time
When I can feel the needle hit the skin with my holding fingers I get faster results but it's only a few millimetres at a time
I've also noticed the direction of a stretch makes a difference

Re: Tribal time
Well then get a bigger grouping and do the same thing... With color i find it the best to use like a 7RM or 9RM, hang the needle out like 2mm and go pretty deep with it at a aprox 45 angle... saturate in 1-2 passes and move on... be confident and try not to layer to much !!
As far as stretching i dont really stretch that much.. i just press and pull down with my left hand under the place where i am tattooing and other than that except maybe really elastic skin like ribs or biceps sometimes i dont stretch at all !!
