Dry or wet autoclave?

Hi there everybody.
Untill now, I have onlu used disposables, but since I like to know and try everything out, Im planing to buy an autoclaver, but Im not sure if a cheap dryheatautoclaver from Ebay (80 Gbp) will do the job, or if I will have to go with a stovetop sterilizer?

I remember the shop were they did use the dryheat autoclave.

thats really hit or miss. who knows, some of their shit is usable some of it is trash.

however, since this is tattoo we're talkin here, i wouldn't appreciate you using some ebay import autoclave for me. i'd prefer you just use the plastic shit on me

well a clave needs to be spore tested every month , thats the rule in the uk , if you eho isnt testing it how do you know its safe ? if your fully licensed and working and licensed by your eho then great get one , but if your not you can do a lot more damage by even thinking of buying one

Are you talking about wet or dry, and what is EHO?

Theese stove sterilizers is what is also sold from the respected tattoo.dk here in Denmark.
Anyway, if you bag the grips, the color want change on the bags if it do not work.
But if the color changes, I gues that must meen that it had the amount of heat/steam etc. as it needed to be sterilized, am I wrong?

And they picture a stovetop sterilizer like the one Im looking at.

eho is you local environmental health officer who will issue your license , and im pretty sure both wet and dry require spore testing , when i had my inspection my eho asked what my methods of sterilization would be and actually told me they prefer us to use disposable in powys , they dont like auto claves at all . but like i said you wont be able to get anything tested if your not licensed so buying anything like this would be a massive no no , if you have a dirty autoclave / sterilizer you wont know it because its micro organisms .


the pouches may change colour but , that still doesnt mean your clave is safe , and thats a massive risk to take if your not yet fully covered . from personal experience my eho said that claves would require monthly testing if i insisted on having one and that they could turn up at any time and ask me to run the clave and then swab the clean items to make sure , thats why i go disposable

Iv got a steam autoclave that I bought a couple of years ago. Don't use it much though, only if I'm gonna be using the grips/tips on myself due to not having whatever disposable tube I want.
Biggest mistake iv made, waste of money..
Even when the colour chsnges in the pouch im still a bit weary.
My advice would be to treat ya self to a new machine or something rather than wasting your money..

Just got a brand new Horsework Soba racehorse today (B&G shader), and just ordered a FK Galaxie aluminium (colorpacker) today.
Been running rotarys for a while now, but want to know more about the coils.
So I guess Im already treating myself
Havent run coils since my apprenticeship many years ago
(13 years without tattooing)

but i seen one being used looked real expensive and pro with sonic cleaning or what not.

Actually, it was the same as the one I can find on Ebay (dryheater)
It was actually the shop were i did my apprenticeship 15 years ago.
We went it thrue the ultrasonic, cleand it, baged it and dryheated it, in one of these.

Anyway, Im listening to what you guys are saying, and I believe what your saying, but I still wonder why a place like PainfullPleasures, recomend bot heat og steam, and just consider steam better for a shop, cause its faster and can handle more equipment at a time.

About spores, I hear what you guys are saying, but is it not just sience, if you heat it up, or put it in a steampresure, in the right amount of time, then you will kill the spores.

And what I dont get is, how can your autoclaver be "dirty" if it has the right heat/steam and presure, its still just sience, isnt it?

just because its coming up to a certain temp it doesnt mean its hot enough or efficient enough to kill micro organisms , have you done you bbp training yet ? because i think if you havent that really should be your next step , shops have them because they can afford the services and testing that come with them , it is science,,, its absolute science just on a micro biological level , just because you cant see it , it doesnt mean its not there


do you know how long hep b can live on a hard surface ?

do you know to properly clean and make sure that there is none on your equipment ?


one of the biggest risks in this job is the risks you cant see , it only takes one dirty bitch with a nasty case of chlamydia and you running a slightly less than efficient clave and you could be passing that on to your clients / friends / family , and thats the best case scenario , some diseases cant be cured , why anyone would take that risk is just beyond me

And no, we dont have training like that in Denmark, some people go to Sweeden to take training.
Actually Denmark have no rulea or laws about tattooing really, we do have a union that works for a united system between tattooer.
So the answer is no, I have no training except from the one I got as a apprentice years ago, and that was not really traing at all, I believe that they knew shit about this.

Im tempted to google the Hep B, before answering

right you can do a one day online bbp course for about 20 quid and its money well spent to be honest , hep b can live just fine 7 days on a hard surface , which is pretty scary , some other blood born pathgens can live for 6 weeks , its really crucial that you learn this stuff , the area i live in a black hole are with regards to tattoo laws but im fully aware of the risks i have done my bbp training every year since 2013 , because things change , regulations change laws change , so it vital that your fully informed .


another thing i would suggest is that you get your hep b immunization done thats a 12 month process , 12 months if your levels reach 100 at the end of the course if not you have to start the whole thing over again
