Textured needles

Has anyone got any experience with textured needles?
Iv been told that they are great for solid colour but also very traumatic on the skin.
Thinking about ordering some to give them a go.
Any info greatly appreciated.

i tried them i didnt like them at all , they are much easier to chew the skin up with , i find a smooth tip much better for colour packing

Thanks for the info, wasnt to sure about them. What needles do you use for packing colour? (brand, sizes, taper ect)? I use #12 standard taper needles and used them for everything and it seems ok except for solid colour.

What size mags are you using? I personally never go bigger than a 9 mag for color, short taper needles typically work better for packing also.

There's a lot of variables that could be at play though, machine setup, depth, stretching the skin properly , the angle the needle is entering the skin, ink and of course the needles themselves

I generally use 7curved mag for packing, cant seem to get on with anything bigger than that. My packer is set up with a long throw running at 52% duty, 86hz @7-7.5 volts loaded. The angle i hold the machine is probably between 30/45 degrees and I use nedz vivid inks. I think in general my colour work is ok, but I sorta want more saturation on the healed piece. Saturation is my biggest problem, they always look ok but not as bright and saturated as people like Matt Webb for example, I am a big fan of his line work and colour saturation, I know with me it is the angle of the needle hitting the skin, I keep adjusting it to a angle similar to when I am lining, I know I am doing it ....

you need to work slowly , i used to make the mistake with color that because my machine was running fast i had to move to my hand fast but i run the machine fast and slow my hand down , and also once you have put colour in wipe down and look at the skin , you will see if its saturated if not go over it again , you have got to go some to chew the skin up

I think I do go slow enough but my main problem is not keeping consistent speed, I start off slow but end up going a bit faster lol. Always been worried about chewing up the skin.
